What is this?
Les is going to the Camp on Saturday 30th June. He is continuing with the Common 5 Lined Skink, Orchid and Bumble-bee (probably) Field Surveys. The Surveys should take around 1.5 – 2.00 hours so should be able to hike part of the camp with some hilly sections (or not). Only 10% chance of rain. He leaves St. Mikes in the Grove at 8:45 am sharp arriving at the camp around 9:15. For anyone driving directly to the camp, the gate is open drive to the main parking lot. If the ranger (Diana Nutt) is on duty let her know you are with Les. Wear long sleeved shirt and long pants, hiking boots, head cover. Bring water and a snack and an interested friend. He has room for three if you would like to carpool.
The last count confirmed 114 Lady Slipper Orchid Stems (end of 2018 field count) and 746 Showy (Queens) Lady Slipper Stems, quite a few with the flower buds missing. Deer?? Grass Pink Orchids starting to flower yet could not count due to high water levels, need rubber boots. McPherson's after for lunch?
