What is this?
** THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED **
Organizers have made the difficult decision to cancel this annual race due to high water levels and localized flooding. Conditions at start and end finish lines will not be usable in time for the race on Sunday.
This annual race beings on Mosside Road just west of County Road 79 north of Cairo. It features 10 classes and three different race lengths which appeals to both the competitive and fun-loving paddlers. Please bring water, snacks and appropriate clothing.
For the 7 km races, the classes include Recreation, Lazy River, VIP, Touring (the over age 50 crowd) and Novice Kayak. The 12 km races classes include Rec Tandem Men, Rec Tandem Mixed, and Amateur Kayak. The 16 km races include Pro C2 Men, Pro C2 Mixed, and Expert Kayak. Participants must supply their own canoe or kayak and safety gear.
All classes finish at the Shetland Conservation Area on Lambton County Road 2.
Participants are requested on a voluntary basis to seek sponsors for their efforts (pledge sheets can be downloaded). The funds raised are used to help support outdoor education for school children in the St. Clair region.
