Event Description
|
The Canoe Safety Course is designed to introduce the canoeist to self-rescue and assisted-rescue techniques. The emphasis is on mastering the fundamentals of self-rescue, along with water safety and safe canoeing practices.
The Course will cover the following:
- Transporting canoes on a vehicle. Lifts and carries. Portaging
- Don a PFD in deep water
- Swim 25 metres any stroke with PFD and tread water with a PFD
- Entering and exiting canoe from shore or dock
- Swimming with a swamped canoe Paddling a swamped canoe
- Capistrano Flip
- Re-entering canoe
- Canoe over canoe rescue
- Throw line technique
- Safe canoeing procedures and outdoors precautions
